BRENT – OWNER OPERATOR & SKIPPER
Brent has been a boat skipper for 30 years. Working in the New Zealand tourism industry he started driving boats around icebergs at Mt Cook and has driven jet boats in Queenstown, Taxis in Abel Tasman, sailed his own yacht through the Pacific, and guided rafts down rivers in New Zealand and Japan. An avid climber and skier he has climbed Mt Cook twice and pursued his climbing passion to places like China, Russia, Greenland, Europe, and the US. He is passionate about the Wanaka area and loves being out on the lake or up in the mountains. He enjoys hearing of others’ travel adventures and is happy to share his experiences and knowledge of the local area with you.
KRYSTLE – OWNER OPERATOR & SKIPPER
Originally from the Netherlands, Krystle came to Wanaka in 2009 to teach skiing. After alternating winters between New Zealand and Austria for a number of years she eventually made Wanaka her home.
Krystle loves being in or on the water and enjoys nothing more than a long swim in the cool clear waters of Lake Wanaka.
Mou Waho Island is her favorite place in Wanaka and when not manning the office or sailing one of our water taxis, she can be found stowing away on one of our boat trips to the island. She loves Wanaka and the natural beauty this place offers. She is passionate about riding the waters through water sports like kayaking and surfing.

JAMES – SKIPPER & WINTER OPERATION MANAGER
James is one of the most experienced skippers on Lake Wānaka. He started his boating career in the adventure tourism industry back in 2003, and has spent two decades in his happy place, in a water on a boat! His experience spans lake and island tours, jet-boating, guided fishing, water safety, and biosecurity. Since 2003, he’s shared his vast knowledge of Mou Waho Island with our region’s visitors. Some of his favourite things to talk about are conservation, geography, flora and fauna.
HANNAH – SKIPPER
Growing up in a Navy family, Hannah has always felt at home on the water. From her first job aboard a day-cruise boat in Auckland to refitting sailing yachts in the shipyards of Mallorca, she’s never strayed far from the marine world. Now a skipper on the stunning waters of Lake Wānaka, Hannah is returning for her second summer with Wānaka Water Taxi, where she brings her love for this place to every guest she meets.

TONY – 4×4 GUIDE
Tony came to Wānaka 30 years ago as a snowboard bum and never left, eventually building and selling his own small business before diving into the hobbies he loves most. A true car enthusiast, he collects and tinkers with old Japanese cars and even races competitively online on his custom simulator. He’s big on sports, from disc golf and pickleball to mountain biking and paddleboarding, and he follows motorsport and rugby league with equal passion. A tech fan as well, Tony enjoys 3D printing, virtual reality, laser cutting, and converting mountain bikes into fast e-bikes. With several side hustles under his belt, his favourite is guiding. He loves meeting guests, tackling changing 4×4 conditions, and showing off the beauty of Wānaka and Aotearoa.
