A little piece of local History!
Ruby Island is a small island close to Wanaka township. During the 1920’s/30’s a ferry carried passengers to the island which boasted tearooms and a dance floor. Dances were held every Saturday night on the covered dance floor. Although the foundations from the old dance floor remain, today the island is a quieter place. Its garden like setting and close proximity to town attracts kayakers and boaties to stroll around the island, swim of the beach and BBQ away the summer days.
